Liam DeGroot
Liam DeGroot is an independent writer and director from Hamilton, Canada. Over the course of 4 years, Liam has strived to hone his artistic talent and skill sets, directing various projects including dramatic short films, experimental visual poetry, music videos, and company psa's. Having completed his time at Humber's Film and Television Program, Liam has set out to continue down his artistic path with upcoming shorts and feature films.
Over the many projects he has created, many of his cast and crew members look up to Liam as a talented and team-driven director, always making the process of his films one that everyone can feel accomplished working on. Liam believes that "Everyone has a role to play in creating stories. No matter what obstacles are in the way, we can accomplish greatness when we work as a team." Liam is dedicated to making life on set a fun and effort-driven experience for all and is never afraid to give others and hand to reach out to for help.
When it comes to Liam DeGroot's style of storytelling, he is never afraid to try new things. Liam is always interested in trying new genres and aesthetics, but has always been keen on delivering high-concept worlds. When he first started making films, Liam spent the majority of the time making straightforward stories in the horror genre, with shorts like "Anomaly (2021)" and "Followed (2023)", but over time, Liam has moved away from the horror genre to explore more dramatic and fantasy storytelling. His newest and upcoming short film, "Comfort in Limbo," is his most ambitious and existential project yet, exploring themes of life, death, and the human connection to create a beautiful and emotional journey. Liam will then be diving back into the horror genre one last time as he co-writes his debut feature "Network Odyssey". What journey Liam DeGroot will embark on next is a mystery, but he is not afraid to take risks as he goes into philosophical and spiritual depths to help develop his storytelling into something powerful.
